Description
Prenatal Yoga Series
Mondays in July at 9:30am
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Join Kaitlyn Alhabshi in her own first pregnancy for these specialty prenatal yoga series honoring you and the little one growing within you. Prenatal Yoga is one of the most beneficial and highly recommended tools to help you experience, navigate, and savor your uniquely beautiful journey of pregnancy (especially when it doesn’t feel so beautiful!). These specialty classes encompass several methods to help you emotionally, mentally, and physically connect with your baby, love and nurture your body as it changes daily, and prepare for giving birth. Kept purposefully small, the intention of these group classes is to provide a safe sanctuary for expecting moms to feel the support of other women and carve time out specifically for connection and community.
Why practice prenatal yoga?
Physically, besides getting in your recommended amount of daily gentle movement and proper deep core engagement, the benefits of practicing prenatal yoga include addressing the sore and stiff lower back as your center of gravity changes, directly reflected in your shoulders and neck, sore pelvis, round ligament pain, nausea, headaches, shortness of breath, and a litany of other symptoms that come with the turf of pregnancy.
Mentally, prenatal classes will benefit you by calming the new- or again-mom anxious mind – so you sleep better and have better focus and connection throughout your day-to-day affairs.
Emotionally, prenatal classes offer a safe space to let yourself just be and any upcoming emotions out. Whether you’re having a great day or a weepy day, the mindful practice of breath and movement are wonderful supports for the upliftment of mood. The commonly heard phrase “the issues are in the tissues” refers to the body’s ability to store and hold on to our emotions, stress, and fears. Through breath and movement, these classes are designed to assist your body in letting go of the stress, fears of pregnancy, labor, and motherhood stored in your body, consciously or subconsciously.
Spiritually, prenatal classes are a beautiful way to set time aside to specifically nurture the bond between you and the soul of the life growing within you, as well as honor the essence of yourself as the divine feminine Creatrix. These non-denominational classes embrace the heart of every student’s background and personal beliefs.
Each class is intelligently and thoughtfully sequenced so you leave feeling freer and more spacious in your body, calmer, more grounded, and more connected to your baby.
In each class, you can expect:
- Chanting
- Pranayama (breathwork)
- Deep core (pelvic floor) activation techniques
- Asana (postures/gentle movement)
- Relaxation techniques
- Connection to baby techniques
- Snacks and small bottled water is always provided
Other Series Perks:
- Private Facebook group to stay in touch with and communicate with the ladies beyond the class
- Free walking meditation classes* around Peck Farm Loop (approximately 2.5 miles) twice a month. If you have other littles, feel free to bring them! *Weather permitting*
