Dog Trainer
About the Role:
We are adding dog training services to our established doggie daycare and are seeking a certified dog trainer who uses positive reinforcement and does not use aversive techniques (no prong/pinch collars, shock/e-collars, or punishment-based methods). The trainer will teach group classes, coach pet owners, and help dogs improve obedience, socialization, and behavior in a safe, engaging environment.
A dedicated training room is available during weekday evenings (after 6 PM) and weekends. Trainers will coordinate with management to schedule classes, with flexibility to offer different class types and times as appropriate. Because this is a new service, there may be a potentially slower build-up of clientele at first, but the program is housed within a busy doggie daycare with an existing client base, making growth realistic.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate group training sessions for dogs of all sizes and temperaments
• Coach pet owners on positive reinforcement techniques and at-home training strategies
• Assess dog behavior and implement appropriate training plans
• Ensure a safe, engaging, and positive environment for dogs and owners
• Support the development of the training program alongside management
Requirements:
• Certification in dog training required
• Minimum 2 years professional dog training experience
• Experience teaching group classes
• Patience, professionalism, and strong communication skills
Compensation:
• 50% commission
